Funeral Arrangements ... Iain 'Coogie' Urquhart's funeral service will take place next Thursday 22nd March in the Crown Church (at the junction of Midmills Road and Kingsmills Road) Inverness IV2 3JT at 12.45 Hrs, following which the committal will take place at Glen Convinth cemetery on the A833 south of Kiltarlity and to the north of Drumnadrochit.

Thereafter family and friends will gather in the Kingsmills Hotel, Culcabock Rd, Inverness IV2 3LP.

Highland Car Club would like to express its deep sorrow at the news from the weekend of the passing of Iain Urquhart, or Coogie as he was known to most.
Coogie was a big character who had been a hard-working member of Highland Car Club for many years.
He had served on the club committee and held the role of Clerk of the Course for the Snowman Rally, an event he was particularly dedicated to.
His service to motorsport led him to become an MSA Steward and represented Scotland on the MSA Rallies Committee. Recently he was chosen as one of the few MSA Safety Delegates where he used his experience, pragmatism and his unique style of diplomacy to ensure that stages rallies ran as safely as possible.
Many people in the club and much further afield have benefitted from his help and experience, and his untimely departure will leave us poorer for it.

Iain is survived by his wife Teri and their daughters Louise and Hazel to who we send our love and heartfelt sympathies.

Snowman Rally

10th February 2018

Planning for Highland Car Club’s 2018 Snowman Rally is well underway with a few changes in store. Taking its usual slot as the first round of the Scottish Rally Championship the event takes place on Feb10th.

After 10 years at the helm Neil Moir has stepped aside as Clerk of the Course and the role has been taken up by Andy Jardine.

After 40 years at the Thistle Hotel and before that the Mercury Motor Inn, the Snowman has had to find a new home. We are enormously grateful to the Thistle Hotels for their years of fantastic support of the event.

We have however found lots of comfy beds at the Kingsmills Hotel, one of Invernesses best privately-owned hotels.
They are doing a special room rate for competitors and all you
have to do is quote “Snowman Rally” when booking. Please  >Click Here< for further details.
The hotel is well appointed with leisure facilities and a Spa. Why not make a weekend of it and bring the
family. https://kingsmillshotel.com/

Rally HQ & Signing-on will be based at Fairways Leisure Golf Centre just a mile of the A9 on the south side of Inverness. http://www.golflochness.com/

Fairways provides us with a fantastic facility with ample parking and a large function room for signing on. The rally will start and finish here with the now traditional trip down the High Street to be waved off to tackle Inverness-shires fantastic stages. Whilst a round of golf on one of Fairways two courses might be out of the question there’s always the driving range for those that arrive early.

For the first year the Snowman Rally will be the first round of the RSAC Motorsport Ecosse Challenge. The ultra competitive one make series makes a welcome addition to any event and we very much look forward to greeting the Ecosse Challengers in their hard driven C2s to Inverness. http://www.ecossechallenge.co.uk/

The Snowman Rally has adopted a charity for the event this year and we are helping to raise £4 million for this project: Elsie Normington Foundation plans to build a specialist play centre, respite wing, community coffee shop and some supported housing for children and young adults with learning disabilities in Inverness. The Foundation will be using the rally to base a weekend of fundraising. Let’s help them as much as we can. http://enfoundation.co.uk/

Congratulations to David Bogie and Kevin Rae -  winners of the 2017 Arnold Clark Jurys Inn Snowman Rally
